How to change Your Vehicles Oil

The first thing you will need to do is find out how many quarts of oil your vehicle takes by looking at a haynes automotive manual for your vehicles make and model, or you can go by your local parts store and they should have it. You will also need to use the same process to get a new oil filter. If you do not already have a oil filter remover and oil pan you will need to buy one, because spilling oil on the ground can be harmful to both plants and animals. Once you have gotten everything you need you are ready to begin. The first thing you need to do is lift your car using car ramps or a floor jack and jack stangs. The next step you will need to place your oil pan under the oil plug. Once you unscrew the oil plug it you will need to let the oil drain into your oil pan until all is gone. After you have drained the oil you will need to remove the oil filter, ussually located on the end of the oil pump. After you have replaced the oil filter it is now time to screw the oil plug back into the oil pan and begin to pour the proper amount of quarts into your engine. Once you have done this it is nescisary to check your oil level using the dipstick to insure there are no leaks and you have enoug oil in your engine. Once this is done you are ready to go again!
